One of My Favorite Topics: Quantum Physics, Energy, and Why I'm Paying More Attention to EMFs Than Ever Before

By Dee Davidson, FDN-P

If you've followed me for any length of time, you know one of my absolute favorite topics is something that surprises many people.

Quantum physics and energetics.

I could spend hours talking about it.

Not because I think we should fear technology or throw away our cell phones, but because I find it fascinating that science continues to uncover just how interconnected energy and biology really are.

When I first began studying functional health, I focused almost entirely on food, hormones, gut health, exercise and nutrients.

Those things are incredibly important.

But over time I began asking a bigger question.

What if healing isn't just about chemistry?

What if it's also about energy?

After all, every heartbeat begins with an electrical signal.

Every thought traveling through your brain is electrical.

Every nerve in your body communicates using tiny electrical impulses.

Without electricity...

There is no life.

That realization completely changed how I began looking at the world around me.

We Live in an Ocean of Energy

Unlike any generation before us, we now spend nearly every waking hour surrounded by invisible electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

Think about how many devices are around you right now.

Your cell phone.

Wi-Fi router.

Laptop.

Tablet.

Smart watch.

Bluetooth earbuds.

Television.

Wireless printer.

Smart appliances.

Baby monitor.

Smart thermostat.

And every year we continue adding more connected devices to our homes.

Technology has made life incredibly convenient.

It allows me to work with clients around the country, record my podcast, connect with my family, and educate thousands of people every week.

I'm incredibly grateful for it.

But I also think it's wise to ask an important question.

As our exposure to electromagnetic energy continues increasing, what effect might that have on our bodies over decades?

The honest answer is...

We're still learning.

What Does the Research Say?

Research on EMFs is active and ongoing.

Some studies have reported biological effects under certain exposure conditions, while others have not found consistent evidence of harm from the levels of radiofrequency energy produced by consumer devices. Scientists continue to study potential effects on sleep, oxidative stress, fertility, and other aspects of health, but there is currently no scientific consensus that everyday exposure from household electronics causes disease.

As someone who practices functional medicine, I don't believe we need absolute certainty before making reasonable lifestyle choices that may reduce unnecessary exposures.

Many of the healthy habits I recommend like exercising, eating whole foods, sleeping well, and managing stress were adopted because they support overall wellness, even when every mechanism wasn't fully understood.

I approach EMFs in much the same way.

Why I Think It Matters

One thing I've learned after working with thousands of clients is this:

The body doesn't experience stress one source at a time.

It experiences total load.

Poor sleep.

Blood sugar swings.

Nutrient deficiencies.

Chronic stress.

Environmental toxins.

Mold.

Heavy metals.

Pesticides.

Air pollution.

And yes...

Potential electromagnetic exposures.

Individually, none of these may overwhelm the body.

Together?

They can place a significant demand on our ability to adapt and recover.

That's why my philosophy has always been simple.

Reduce what you reasonably can.

Not out of fear.

Out of wisdom.

What My Family Is Doing

As we've been setting up our new home, we've decided to make several practical changes.

We're hardwiring as many devices as possible instead of relying exclusively on Wi-Fi.

If a computer or television doesn't need to be wireless, we'd rather connect it with an Ethernet cable.

It's faster.

It's more reliable.

And it reduces one source of wireless exposure.

We've also chosen to continue using Aires Tech products in our home.

While research on EMF mitigation products is still evolving, I've personally chosen to include them as part of our overall wellness approach.

I also enjoy incorporating shungite, a naturally occurring carbon-rich mineral that many people use around electronics. While scientific evidence supporting EMF protection claims is limited, I appreciate it as one of several intentional choices that remind me to create a healthier environment.

The Simplest Changes Often Matter Most

The good news is you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to make meaningful changes.

Some of my favorite habits cost absolutely nothing.

Keep your phone out of your bedroom whenever possible.

If you use it as an alarm clock, place it across the room instead of under your pillow or beside your head.

Better yet, consider using a traditional alarm clock and letting your bedroom become a place for rest instead of notifications.

Avoid carrying your phone directly against your body all day if possible.

Use speakerphone or wired headphones for longer conversations.

Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on devices when you aren't using them.

Create technology-free time each day.

Spend time outside.

Ground your feet in the grass.

Watch the sunrise.

Listen to birds instead of notifications.

Your nervous system needs moments of stillness just as much as it needs nutrients.

We Are More Than Chemistry

One of the reasons I love studying quantum physics is because it reminds me that healing is rarely one-dimensional.

Yes, nutrition matters.

Yes, sleep matters.

Yes, hormones matter.

But so do our thoughts.

Our emotions.

Our relationships.

Our stress.

Our environment.

And perhaps even the energetic world surrounding us that we're only beginning to understand.

I don't believe the goal is to eliminate every modern convenience.

I certainly haven't.

The goal is to become more intentional.

More aware.

More connected.

Because every small decision we make either adds to our body's resilience—or to its burden.

I choose resilience.

I hope you will too.
