What I Pack on Every Trip to Stay Healthy While Traveling
Summer is here, and for many of us that means vacations, family visits, beach weekends, road trips, and new adventures.
As much as I love traveling, I also know it can be surprisingly stressful on the body.
Think about everything your body encounters while you're away:
• Crowded airports and airplanes
• Germs on buses, trains, and public transportation
• Different foods and restaurants
• Less sleep or disrupted schedules
• More walking and activity than usual
• Changes in hydration
• Different water sources
• New environments and potential toxin exposures
When you combine all of those factors, it's no wonder so many people come home feeling exhausted, constipated, bloated, or even sick.
I've been there myself.
One thing I've learned over the years is that travel doesn't have to derail your health if you prepare your body ahead of time and give it a little extra support while you're away.
My Biggest Travel Challenge
If I'm being honest, my biggest struggle while traveling is constipation.
Changing my routine, eating at different times, and being on airplanes almost guarantees my digestion slows down if I don't stay proactive.
I've also noticed that if I don't support my immune system while I'm away, I can end up catching a cold a few days after I get home.
After years of traveling and working with clients, I've found that a few simple tools make all the difference.
My Travel Wellness Essentials
These are the practitioner-grade supplements I rarely leave home without.
Vitamin C
Travel places extra demands on your immune system.
I like taking vitamin C throughout my trip to help support immune health while also providing antioxidant protection.
Probiotic
Travel can quickly disrupt your gut microbiome.
A quality probiotic helps support healthy digestion while promoting beneficial bacteria, especially when you're eating foods you don't normally consume.
Digestive Enzymes
Restaurant meals are often larger, richer, and prepared differently than what we eat at home.
Digestive enzymes can help support healthy digestion and reduce bloating after meals.
Magnesium
Magnesium is one of my favorite travel companions.
It supports relaxation, healthy bowel movements, muscle recovery after long days of walking, and can even help improve sleep when you're away from home.
Electrolytes
Travel often means more sweating, more walking, long flights, and not drinking enough water.
Electrolytes help maintain hydration and support energy levels throughout your trip.
Adrenal Support
Travel is exciting, but it's also a physical stressor.
Supporting your adrenal glands can help maintain healthy energy levels and improve resilience during busy travel days.
Binder (When Appropriate)
If I'm already on a detox protocol or traveling somewhere with potential environmental exposures, I'll often bring a gentle binder as part of my routine.
Protein
One of the easiest habits to lose while traveling is eating enough protein.
I always pack clean protein packets or high-quality protein bars for airports, long travel days, or when healthy food options are limited.
Don't Forget the Basics
Supplements can be incredibly helpful, but they're only one piece of the puzzle.
Whenever possible, I also try to:
• Stay hydrated.
• Prioritize protein at each meal.
• Walk after meals.
• Get outside for natural sunlight.
• Stretch after long flights or car rides.
• Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep.
• Practice deep breathing to help regulate my nervous system.
These simple habits help keep my body grounded even when my schedule isn't.
Practitioner-Grade Matters
The supplements I travel with are practitioner-grade formulas that have been clinically researched, third-party tested, and are trusted by healthcare practitioners around the world.
They're also travel friendly, don't require refrigeration, and fit easily into a carry-on bag.
I've put together my favorite Travel Wellness Pack to make it easy if you'd like everything in one place.
Or, if you prefer, you can simply purchase the products that best fit your individual needs.
Everything available through my Fullscript dispensary has been carefully selected because they're brands I trust and personally recommend to my clients.
Prepare Before You Leave
The best time to support your immune system isn't after you get sick—it's before you travel.
A little preparation can go a long way toward helping you enjoy your vacation, return home feeling energized, and avoid spending the first week back recovering.
Wherever your travels take you this summer, I hope you make incredible memories while taking great care of your body along the way.
Safe travels!
